Rule of the Week: Swapping return sides/servers after a set

In a doubles match, after one set has finished, each team has the option to keep or change the return sides they initially started the match on. Same thing for the server, teams get to choose whoever will serve first in the following set, even if the same player served in the last game of the previous set. Keep in mind that this rule applies ONLY at the beginning of each set, not during.

Coach Moro’s Tip of the Week: Changing Grips

“You’ve been on the court for some time, getting your technique right. You started to rally but realize it’s not that easy to keep track of the grips; which is the forehand, which is the backhand etc. Well, let’s simplify it a little… In your ready position the frame of your racket would be positioned roughly at 90 degrees with the floor. If you want to go for a forehand, gently rotate the racket with your left hand(which should be most of the time holding the neck of the racket) 45degrees to the left, and there you have it, ideal grip for your forehand. Same thing for the backhand 45degrees to the right and you have the backhand grip. Try it next time you’re on court! Good luck!”
